"Funtunfunefu Denkyemfunefu" critiques and subverts the Berlin Conference of 1884/85, where European powers divided Africa, reshaping its landscape. Funtunfunefu Denkyemfunefu (“Unity in Diversity”) is a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol with two conjoined crocodiles, symbolizing unity and democracy. The installation features a table with chairs representing colonized African nations. 

The table is contrasted by the ornate traditional umbrella, a symbol of authority and protection in Ghana, which was made in collaboration with Ghanaian proletarians using fabrics stained from their work. It features images of the Black proletariat and slogans, challenging colonial narratives. 

The work prompts reflection on Africa’s historical impact. It advocates for a future where African voices play a central role in global decisions, reclaiming their place in history and emphasizing African resilience, unity, and agency.
