INSTALLATION_2024
"Treshold," collaboration with Kwame Boafo for Kunstenfestivaldesarts IN BRUSSELS, offers an immersive experience featuring expansive stained fabric pieces and machine installations. Complementing these installations, the video work "Another Chance" provides a poignant narrative on materiality, memory, and labor, creating a dynamic interplay between static and moving elements.
The performative project by Kwame Boafo began in 2018, exploring human and non-human interactions, spatiotemporal mobility, and memories. Initially inspired by Percy Nii Nortey’s "Poetics of Material Memory," it examines the life cycles of second-hand machines in Ghana.
Central to the artistic production of the installation is the process of distributing and collecting fabrics, imbued with traces of dirt, oil, charcoal, food, and palm oil. These stains reflect and question issues of labor, spirituality, and aesthetics, transcending mere marks to embody deeper narratives.
